Event Series Water Safety Instructor Class

Earn a certification in Water Safety Instructor by being part of the JBSA-Lackland Aquatic Center Water Safety Instructor Class! March 19-20 and 26-27. This class has a price of $160 due after passing pre-test. To enter this course you must be 16 years old or older. The prerequisite skills test will be given on the first day of class and must be passed: 1- Level 4 stroke performance; 25 yard front crawl, 25 yard breaststroke, 25 yard elementary backstroke, 25 yard sidestroke, 15 yard butterfly. 2- Maintain on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling). 3- Tread water for 1 minute. American Red Cross Lifeguard Course

LAK Skylark Aquatic Center

Earn Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR & AED certification of classes. March 8-10 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is mandatory to attend every day of the course. Successful completion of a pretest is required for enrollment. The pre-test will be given the first day of class and must be passed. Cost for this course is $180 per person. This Red Cross class is for people interested in being certified as a lifeguard and for employment as a GS-2 lifeguard for the summer of 2024. Participants must be 15 or older to sign up for the course. Participants must: Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles allowed. Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs. Complete a timed event within 1 min 40 secs. Swim goggles are not allowed. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards Surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-lb object. Underwater Easter Egg Hunt @ Skylark

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt March 30 11 AM to Noon • Ages 5-7 Noon to 1 PM • Ages 8-10 1-2 PM • Ages 11-13 The Underwater Easter Egg Hunt takes place at the Skylark Aquatics Center.
