Boating Safety Classes

All Outdoor Recreation Centers require a Boaters Safety Course certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife in order for customers to rent their boats. Online courses can be taken at boaterexam.com, Boat-ed.com, BOATsmartexam.com, BoatUS.org and iLearnToBoat.com. The Kayak and Canoe safety course is required for non-powered boating equipment. Enchanted Rock Rappelling Trip

JBSA-Lackland Outdoor Recreation has recently revamped its approximately 250-foot paintball course park and is now ready to accept bookings. Groups of up to 30 players (ages 12 and older) may reserve up to four hours in the park.

Weekend Camping Trip @ Canyon Lake

Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake

Join us for a family, adventure filled weekend soaking up the sun and fun at JBSA Recreation at Canyon Lake. Participants will check-in to the lake Friday evening from 1-7 p.m. with a check out of Sunday morning by 11 a.m. Campers will be staying in the new bungalows. Saturday will feature fun on the water with three pontoons ready to take families out on the water as well as a scheduled Sunset Cruise that evening. For those not wanting to venture out on the pontoons, there will be paddle equipment on the beach for families to use. As the day winds down, guest will be treated to a spectacular Star Gazing experience of the solar system and beyond through powerful telescopes. For a special treat, guests will join the staff for a scrumptious Dutch oven dessert - sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. This is an R4R event with no cost for active-duty military members and their families only. It is first-come, first serve and limited spaces are available. Camping & Caving Adventure at Caverns of Sonora

Join us as we visit the world’s most beautiful show cave in Sonora, Texas! We will have an opportunity to tour the marvelous cave and learn about its history in the underground classroom. We will end our day at the local tent campsite and spend the night under the stars. The cost of this program is $130. All ages are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult or guardian). The program includes roundtrip transportation to and from the Caverns of Sonora, entrance into the showroom and underground classroom, camping permits, some gear, and dinner. Kayaking the San Antonio River April 13 • 8:30 AM to 3 PM JBSA-Lackland Outdoor Rec Did you know there's more to the San Antonio River than just the Riverwalk? Join us as we team up with the San Antonio River Authority to kayak and explore the San Antonio River! Whether it's your first-time kayaking, or you're an expert paddler, you will have the opportunity to learn about the environmental, historical and cultural impacts this river has made to Military City, U.S.ATM. Ages eight and older are welcome to participate. Ages 8-11 must ride in a tandem kayak but ages 12 and older can paddle their own craft. There is limited availability of tandem kayaks. The cost of this program is $20, and it includes roundtrip transportation from Lackland Outdoor Recreation, personal flotation devices and kayak equipment.
