Springtime Bench Press Competition

Springtime Bench Press Competition April 2-26 | 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays Patrons are invited to come out to see who can bench the most weight. There will be categories for men and women but no weight class. Each patron is to make sure a staff member verifies the weight benched. The man and woman who lift the most weight will be awarded a prize at the end of the month. Open to all JBSA team members. 1000 Meter Row Challenge April • Normal Business Hours FSH METC Fitness Center During April, patrons can compete to row 1000 meters in the fastest time. National Pickleball Month Tournament

National Pickleball Month Tournament JBSA-FSH Jimmy Brought Fitness Center April 1-30 • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We’re hosting a free month-long tournament to celebrate and highlight this popular sport/activity. Pickleball matches will take place during the lunch hour at Jimmy Brought Fitness Center. The tournament format and schedule will be determined by the number of registrants. Sign-up by COB March 27. Armed Forces 5K Run/Walk

Armed Forces 5K Run/Walk May 11 • 8 a.m. Come out and represent your branch of service in the 5K which takes place at the Pershing Field near bldg. 3212. Transportation provided for students, volunteers and participants  from the Aquatic Center starting at 7:15 a.m. Meet at Pershing Field no later than 7:30 a.m. This event is no cost and open to all DOD ID cardholders and guests.  Prizes awarded to top male and female competitors. Army Ten-Miler Qualifier

Army Ten-Miler Qualifier May 19 • 7-10 a.m. The 40th Annual Army Ten-Miler Race Date will be held on October 13, 2024, at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Participants ages 13 years old and up, are encouraged to maintain a 15-minute-per-mile pace on race day. The qualifier, held by the METC Fitness Center, is open to active-duty military personnel assigned to Fort Sam Houston. It is designed for active-duty military, varsity level athletes who are actively training. The registration fee is $40. Athletes can register at the METC Fitness Center or the Jimmy Brought Fitness Center. Registration deadline is May 1. Each runner will receive a T-shirt and medal.
